_Nigeria Ranks Fifth Globally in Daily Social Media Usage_

A recent report has revealed that Nigeria ranks fifth among the world's top social media users, with Nigerians spending an average of 3 hours and 23 minutes per day on social media platforms.


According to data from (link unavailable) and We Are Social in 2024, posted by World of Statistics on X, Nigeria's average daily social media usage places it just behind Kenya, South Africa, Brazil, and the Philippines.


Kenya leads the list with people spending the most time on social media, at 3 hours and 43 minutes daily. South Africa follows closely with 3 hours and 37 minutes, Brazil at 3 hours and 34 minutes, and the Philippines at 3 hours and 33 minutes.


Nigeria's high social media usage is not surprising, given the country's large and tech-savvy population. The report highlights the growing importance of social media in Nigeria, with many citizens using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp to stay connected with friends and family, access news and information, and conduct business.


The report also notes that other countries with high social media usage include Colombia, Chile, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina.
