Two Men Arrested in Anambra For Suspected Cultism and Theft

The Anambra State police have arrested two men suspected of Cultism and Theft,various weapons were found in their possession.The state police command's spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga issued a statement that the men were arrested in Awka on Saturday following a raid on a black spot in the area.


Ikenga said: "Police operatives attached to Anti-Cultism squad Enough Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state in the late hours of Saturday, 7th December2024, acting on credible information,raided an identified blackspok in Umunaga Village, Awka South LGA."



These men "Okechukwu Chinwuko 27 years from Umunaga and Ezenwa Chinedu 22 years from Umuneri were" arrested duringthe operation.Harmful objects were recovered fromthe operation including "pump action gun, fourlive cartridges, Cutlass, charm and harddrugs". Two female victims were rescuedand they have been abused sexuallyIkenga says that the arrested suspects arecurrently undergoing interrogation to findout their mode of operation. He says furtherdetails would be released later.


Ikenga also added that the police operativesin Igbo-Ukwu Divisional PoliceHeadquarters, on Saturday, recovered onewhite 896 XB, a vandalized Lister electricitygenerator, a roller, pipes, an iron bar, andseveral other items.


He said the hoodlums were vandalizing theLister model electricity generator attachedIkenga says that the arrested suspects arecurrently undergoing interrogation to findout their mode of operation. He says furtherdetails would be released later.


Ikenga also added that the police operative in Igbo-Ukwu Divisional Police headquarters, on Saturday, recovered one white 896 XB, a vandalized Lister electricity generator, a roller, pipes, an iron bar, and several other items.



He said the hoodlums were vandalizing The lister model electricity generator attached to the MTN mast, on sighting the police team, they took to their heels and fled the scene.


He stated that efforts had been activated to arrest the fleeing criminals, calling on residents of the area to assist the police with useful information in appending the fleeing suspects.
