Israel's Military Rescues Four Hostages from Central Gaza Strip

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the successful rescue of four Israeli captives, who were abducted by Hamas during the Nova music festival attacks on October 7th. Identified as Noa Argamani (25), Almog Meir Jan (21), Andrei Kozlov (27), and Shlomi Ziv (40), they were liberated through a complex daytime operation, orchestrated jointly by the Israel Securities Authority and Israel Police, from two separate locations in Nuseirat, central Gaza.Following their rescue, the hostages were transferred to the 'Sheba' Tel-HaShomer Medical Centre for thorough medical examinations and are reported to be in good health, as confirmed by IDF sources. However, amidst the operation, casualties were reported on the Palestinian side, including children, as per Gaza's health ministry under Hamas rule. The Al-Aqsa hospital staff faced challenges in providing medical aid due to the influx of injured individuals. The rare rescue unfolded eight months into the Israel-Hamas conflict, during which Hamas abducted a total of 251 hostages, including those from the music festival attack and other areas in southern Israel. Of these, 116 remain in Palestinian territory, with the IDF claiming that 41 have perished. In a prior agreement reached in November, Hamas released 240 Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons and 105 hostages in exchange for a week-long ceasefire.Reacting to the military intervention in Nuseirat, Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, asserted that Israel could not impose its decisions on the group. He reiterated Hamas's commitment to a ceasefire only when Palestinian security is guaranteed.
