During a podcast conversation with Joe Rogan, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that he once faced the threat of a death sentence in Pakistan due to legal claims against Facebook. The controversy stemmed from allegations that Facebook had hosted blasphemous content—specifically, a depiction of Prophet Mohammed.
Zuckerberg explained, "Different countries have laws that we don’t always agree with. At one point, someone in Pakistan tried to get me sentenced to death because a user posted a drawing of Prophet Mohammed on Facebook. They sued me and opened a criminal case against me. Honestly, I don’t know where it led because I never planned to go to Pakistan, so I wasn’t too worried about it."
His comments shed light on the ongoing debate about free speech, internet regulations, and the risks tech executives face in different legal systems worldwide.
