Tinubu Arrives in France for High-Level Talks, Strengthening Ties

Paris, France - In a significant diplomatic move, Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in France on a three-day state visit, aiming to bolster the political, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

Tinubu landed at Orly Airport in Paris at 5:10 pm local time on Wednesday, where he was warmly received by French officials. The visit is at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, underscoring the importance both countries place on strengthening their partnership.

The agenda for Tinubu's trip is packed with high-level engagements and discussions focused on a wide range of areas, including agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition.

"This visit aims to deepen the already strong relationship between Nigeria and France," said Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesman. "Both leaders will explore new avenues of cooperation that will benefit the citizens of our countries."

On Thursday, Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will be hosted at the historic Les Invalides and the Élysée Palace by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. The reception will include formal ceremonies and bilateral meetings, providing an opportunity for the two heads of state to engage in substantive discussions.

A key focus of the visit will be on enhancing youth-focused exchange programs, particularly in the areas of automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. Both countries recognize the importance of investing in the next generation of leaders and innovators.

"We are excited to explore new partnerships that will empower our young people and foster the exchange of ideas and best practices," Onanuga added.

In addition to the political and diplomatic meetings, Tinubu and Macron will also witness a session by the France-Nigeria Business Council, which oversees private sector participation in economic development. This will be a crucial platform for discussions on finance, solid minerals, trade, investments, and communication.
